The recall involves about 5,550 bicycles in the U.S., 390 in Canada and 260 in Mexico. According to the official recall notice:
The fork on the bicycle can break and cause the rider to lose control, posing a crash hazard.”
Specialized Inc. has received 1 report of cracking in the fork. No crashes or injuries were reported.
The recall involves all model year 2018 Specialized Allez, Allez Sport, and Allez Elite road bicycles with an alloy frame and composite fork.
The brand-name “Specialized” is printed on the downtube, “Allez” is printed on the bottom of each fork leg and “FACT” is printed on the inside of the left fork leg.
The recall involves these Specialized bicycle models and colors:

They were sold at Specialized bike shops nationwide between July 2017 and December 2017 for $750 to $1,200.
Consumers should stop using the bicycles and contact Specialized for instructions on how to get a free installation of a new fork.
