Crofton CC - 6L Pressure Cooker

Crofton CC – 6L Pressure Cooker

ALDI has recalled Crofton Chef’s Collection 6L Pressure Cookers because the lid can open unexpectedly and explode hot food or steam, resulting in severe burn injuries to anyone standing nearby.

The recall involves 6L Stainless Steel Pressure Cookers with Product Code #50073 and the manufacturing year — “2017” — embossed on the base plate. They were supplied to ALDI stores by H&H Asia Ltd.

The recalled Crofton Pressure Cookers were sold at ALDI stores in Australia from June 28, 2017 through July 21, 2017. They were also sold in the United States. According to the recall notice in Australia:

In some cases the lid locking mechanism may be defective causing the lid to detach when cooking. If this happens, there is a risk of scalding to the user.”

Pressure cookers use hot steam to cook food more quickly. The lid is supposed to stay locked onto the pot as the pressure increases. If the lid blows off, boiling-hot food and steam will explode out of the pot.

Steam can cause extensive scalding burns to anyone nearby. Sticky food is even more dangerous if it lands on the skin and causes burns.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled pressure cookers and return it to ALDI for a full refund. For more information, email ALDI at help@solutionservices.net.au or call the Australian support line 1300 667 146 Monday – Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
