The recall affects Fresh Ground Chuck 80/20 and Ground Brisket Chili Meat sold at the Bulverde H-E-B store located at 20725 TX-46, Spring Branch, TX.

Recalled products were packed on Styrofoam trays which feature a sell-by date of 9/26/201, according to the company’s website.

H-E-B issued the recall after routine testing found tiny metal fragments in some of the packages.

Swallowing sharp metal pieces can cause:

  • Tears in the esophagus (tube that connects the mouth and stomach);
  • Severe infections, and
  • Objects may become embedded in the patient’s digestive tract, increasing the risk of long-term health consequences.

Any person who believes they may have swallowed sharp metal pieces should call 9-11 immediately.

The company stresses that this recall only applies to the one location in Bulverde. No other products sold at any other H-E-B store are affected.

To date, no injuries or other incidents have been associated with the recall, the company said.
