Brands of dog food affected by the recall include:

  • Evolve Chicken & Rice Puppy Dry Dog Food
  • Sportsman’s Pride Large Breed Puppy Dry Dog Food
  • Triumph Chicken & Rice Recipe Dry Dog Food

All varieties of the dog food were produced by Red Bay, Alabama-based Sunshine Mills, Inc., and feature Best Buy Date Codes of Nov. 1, 2018, thru Nov. 8, 2019, according to the FDA. Anyone who purchased dog food affected by this recall should not feed it to their animals, and either discard it immediately or return it to the point of purchase for a refund.

When consumed at high levels, Vitamin D may cause severe health complications, including renal dysfunction, FDA said. Signs and symptoms your dog may be overdosing on vitamin D include:

  • Vomiting
  • Loss of appetite
  • Increased thirst and urination
  • Excessive drooling
  • Weight loss

Pets who have eaten any of the food listed in this article and are now exhibiting these symptoms should be taken to a veterinarian immediately.
