In the U.S., the recall affects 16 types of Ritz Cracker Sandwiches and Ritz Bits products, which contain whey powder from a third-party manufacturer that is being recalled for salmonella.

Symptoms of salmonella include fever, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. The illness can lead to severe and sometimes life-threatening infections in very young children, old folks, and people with compromised immune systems.
