The vegetable trays were sold at Kwik Trip, Kwik Star, Demond’s, Sentry, Potash, Meehan’s, Country Market, FoodMax Supermarket and Peapod in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin and have a “Best-By” date of June 17, 2018 or earlier.
Cyclospora cayetanensis is a microscopic parasite that contaminates food or water.
A few days or weeks after the parasite is eaten by people in food, it causes an intestinal illness that can last for months if it is not correctly diagnosed and treated.
Most people who are infected with Cyclospora develop diarrhea, with frequent and sometimes explosive bowel movements.
Other common symptoms include loss of appetite, weight loss, stomach cramps or pain, bloating, increased gas, nausea, and fatigue.
Vomiting, body aches, headache, fever, and other flu-like symptoms may be noted. Not everyone who is infected develops any symptoms.
