The fast-food chain White Castle has recalled a limited number of frozen burgers sold in grocery stores after Listeria bacteria was discovered in a manufacturing facility.

The recall involves frozen 6-pack cheeseburgers, 6-pack hamburgers, 6-pack jalapeño cheeseburgers, 16-pack hamburgers, and 16-pack cheeseburgers.

The recalled burgers are marked with best-by dates ranging from 04 Aug 2020 to 17 Aug 2020.

White Castle has not shipped any product from the manufacturing facility since the problem was identified. The facility is undergoing intensive sanitation, cleaning, and enhanced food safety testing.

Customers who bought any of the recalled burgers (product codes listed on the recall notice) are urged to throw them away or return them to the store for an exchange or full refund.

Infections with Listeria can cause serious and sometimes fatal illnesses. The short-term symptoms may include a high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. Pregnant women may suffer a miscarriage or stillbirth.
